Festival & Events Ontario recognizes the Collingwood Elvis® Festival as one of the province ’s “Top 50 Festivals ”

Ontario’s “Top 50” unveiled at Festival & Events Ontario’s President’s Gala In Toronto
The Collingwood Elvis Festival was once again recognized as one of the top 50 events in the province of Ontario, along with such prestigious events as the Canadian Tulip and Niagara Icewine Festivals. The Top 50 Ontario Festivals represent excellence for the province’s festivals and community events industry, and are selected each year through a nomination process that includes a pre-determined set of criteria.

There are more than three thousand annual festivals and community events staged each year in Ontario, ranging from one-day street fairs to internationally renowned, multi-day celebrations. Festival & Events Ontario takes great pride in honouring these top-notch festivals, and will feature them in the 2005 Festival & Events Ontario Guide, produced in partnership with the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC). The print version of the guide has a readership of more than 750,000 and was the number one downloaded publication on the OTMPC website in 2004.

Festivals & Events Ontario is the professional association for the festival and events industry in Ontario, providing a network for festival and event organizers to share information and resources. The association is involved with advocacy, policy development and providing educational opportunities for members.

The organizing committee of the Collingwood Elvis Festival is pleased to have been recognized once again as one of the province’s top 50 events. Chair Peter Dunbar says “the award is reflective of the committee’s continuing dedication to produce a world class event, that celebrates the impact of Elvis Presley® and his music.”

Plans are well underway for the 2005 edition of the Collingwood Elvis Festival. Dates are July 20 to 24, and for five days it’s “all about Elvis®” in Collingwood, Ontario. 1999 Fifth Annual Festival celebrated the theme “I’m Back ” and was held at the Collingwood Curling Club.
2000 Sixth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival was celebrating the life & music of the “Artist of the Century” Forever Elvis theme. This would be the last year the event was held at the Collingwood Curling Club.
2001 Seventh Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the “Taking Care of Business – In a Flash” theme and relocating our event to the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena. We earned recognition as one of the Top 50 Festivals in Ontario out of over 3,000 Festivals across the Province.
2002 The Eighth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival adopted the theme “Collingwood Remembers….” In honour of the 25th Anniversary of Elvis’ passing and the 45th Anniversary of his appearances in Canada. The Festival also created a new Festival website. The Festival earned Top 50 Festival status for the second consecutive year, as well as winning awards for Best Poster, Best Program and Best Overall Promotional Campaign during the Festival & Events Ontario Annual Convention. The Festival earned nominations for Business Excellence, Customer Service Excellence & Employee of the Year through the local Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
2003 The Ninth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival saluted Elvis’ 30 #1 hits and also recreated the “Aloha from Hawaii” satellite concert. The Youth Division of the competition added a Junior & Senior champion. Our first Golf Tournament was added. This also marked the first year that the ownership changed hands. The Town of Collingwood took over the operations and ownership of the Festival and implemented a new Elvis Municipal Services Board. An event Marketing/Management team was also hired. Maclaren Momentum, a division of the internationally recognized Maclaren McCann came on board to assist in the expansion and marketing of the Festival. A new updated logo was created and we were named in the Top 50 Festivals category for the third consecutive year. We also earned nominations for Business Excellence, Customer Service Excellence and Employee of the Year, through the local Chamber of Commerce for the second year.
2004 This year we celebrated the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of the Collingwood Elvis Festival. More events & Arena Shows were added. We celebrated our past history with the return of our past Champions in our arena shows. We also featured our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and a revised competition structure into an "Era Competition" featuring The Early Years/The Concert Vegas Years. We were once again named in the Top 50 Festivals category for the fourth consecutive year.

The Collingwood Elvis Festival, one of the best in North America, is run by the Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Improvement area.

It has the honour of being sanctioned by Graceland, a division of Elvis Presley Enterprises of Memphis, Tennessee.

In other words, it is a legitimate Elvis Presley function that has met all the standards and criteria set by Graceland.

During the past five years, organizers wishing to appeal to a wide audience, have offered Elvis-themed activities for the entire family including the Hunka Hunka Pancake Breakfast in front of Town Hall, a meal that does justice to huge Elvis appetites and the popular Classic Automobile, Viper and Corvette Elvis Parade.

It's a must-see event along with street dancing and the Midnight Elvis Candlelight Vigil. More than sixty impersonators sing and gyrate along the parade route - big ones, small ones, young ones, old ones - all in appropriate Elvis finery and voice.

The crowd loves every minute of it, encouraging their favorites to outperform other competitors
